Jr. High Ministry: This Month.

Hello parents!

Our Spring Semester of Jr. High ministry officially ends this month, and let me tell you: We're ending with a bang!  We have made some changes to the calendar since our initial mailing; let me fill you in on them:

Wednesday, April 4th: Group @ Church, 5:30-7:15p.
Wednesday, April 11th: Worship night @ Church, in sanctuary, 5:30-7:15p.
Wednesday, April 18th: Text Message Scavenger Hunt @ Byron Forest Preserve, 5:30-7:30.   Signup is officially open.
Saturday, April 28th: Volunteering at Northern Illinois Food Bank, 8a-1p.  Signup is officially open.

Finally, our last regular Group will be Wednesday, April 25th.  On this night, we're opening the doors to include even more people in leadership, participation, and attendance overall:

-Our 8th graders will be leading everything: Rec, Skit, Worship, Message, and more.
-The incoming 6th graders (current 5th graders) will be invited to get a 'sneak peek' of Group before they join this fall.
-Our high school student leaders will be invited so they can meet the 8th grade student leaders, as well as encourage
them to continue their leadership in high school ministry.
-All of our students will be asked to invite people who have never come to Group, or who don't regularly attend.

Since last Fall, our ministry has grown numerically.  Group attendance in August began with 19 students; last week's attendance was at 51 students! Even more, our ministry has grown spiritually.  Students tell us they appreciate extended Breakout Groups, Quiet Time, Worship, and prayer...things that are 'fun', but are meaningful.

This month, encourage your child to join us, to bless...and be blessed!

There’s a word we use for keeping our eyes fixed on God: Devotion.  When you spend time in worship, scripture, and prayer, it helps you keep your focus on God.  But then your phone rings, or your show is on, or you have homework to do.  There’s a word for that too: Distraction.   Join us for our series i2i tonight, where we’ll learn what it means to stay focused on God no matter what.
